CryptoLockerA particularly nasty piece of malware, called CryptoLocker, is now targeting home internet users, after initially focusing on professional users.  It first surfaced in early September 2013 and prevents people from using their computers by locking the screen and holding files for ransom. This includes photos, music files, word documents and other information and of course all of your online identity information.

Sony's PlayStation 4 successfully hacked Not even a month after its release, the PS4 has experienced a serious hack. Hacker Reckz0r has figured out a way to hack the PS4 and play pirated games on it. Obviously, this is quite a coup  for the hacker, considering how expensive Playstation games can be, and Reckz0r has decided not just to keep the information to himself. Reck0r has published a tutorial on how to jailbreak the PS4.

US retailer hacked – 40 million card details stolen

US retailer Target becomes the target of hackers

 

It looks like Christmas is being heralded with another massive credit/debit card hack.  US retailer, Target, has issued a statement saying that its systems were breached between November 27th and up until December 15th.

The company said: “We began investigating the incident as soon as we learned of it. We have determined that the information involved in this incident included customer name, credit or debit card number, and the card’s expiration date and CVV (the three-digit security code).”

Massive mobile malware botnet detected in Asia

Is this the shape of things to come for Android mobile devices?  A huge mobile botnet that is sending information to hackers in China has been detected.

Apparently, it’s one of the largest botnet-based attacks on a mobile platform ever picked up and it’s been used to date in over 60 spyware campaigns.
